Our family has been raising cattle in the rugged desert mountains of western Utah for more than 150 years. We raise both commercial and registered cattle. We select for problem free cows that bring a calf home every year until they are 14 to 16 years old. We have been using Salers since 1984. We were looking for something to cross on our Angus cows. We liked the calving ease and added performance of Salers. We started by breeding 40 Angus cows to Jet and we bought bred heifers from Roy Moore. Salers cows were better in our rugged desert mountains than our Angus cows. The fertility was better and they lasted 3 to 4 years longer. We run 450 mother cows about half are registered and they are all at least 50 percent Salers. Salers cows are the best mother cows we have ever had.
